Simon Mee is a Queensland mid-career artist based in Toowoomba. His practice spans more than two decades and a great many exhibitions.
Simon draws inspiration from every day surroundings, art history and the news.
Well known for his drawings, Simon also paints and has curated exhibitions, most notably the wallpaper project which travelled to six regional galleries throughout Australia.
Simon has obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Visual Art, a Masters Degree in Fine Art and is currently a PhD candidate at Monash University. In addition to his studio practice, Simon also works as the Collections Curator and Lecturer for USQ (University of Southern Queensland).
Simon's work has recently been written about in the book 'Shangri-less: Simon Mee: artworks from 2004 to 2014' which covers some of his well known art from The Suburban Suite series through to his “Folly” inspired works. The book includes essays offering three unique perspectives by: Eliza Gluckman, Jane O’Neill and Dr Michael Vale.
