Debbie Hill graduated from BFA (Drawing major) from the University of Ballarat where she was awarded the International Travel and NGV Trustees awards.
Debbie’s art practice is informed by her deep interest in environmental awareness, mythology, religion, rituals, death; and her significant personal collection of discarded family albums.
Well known for her drawing practice and working with books and paper in all forms, Debbie resides in Ballarat where she has taught many aspiring artists as a sessional lecturer at Ballarat University.
In recent years Debbibe has been working with clay – particularly Porcelain, to explore her ideas in a three dimensional form. Porcelain has allowed her to achieve the attention to detail that is key to expressing her thoughts, the fragility of the material provides an ideal vehicle to do this – her work has been described as drawing in clay.
