announced as winner of the
2015 Sunshine Coast Art Prize
I was so excited to be able to attend the Caloundra Regional Gallery last night for the announcement of the Sunshine Coast Art Prize.
The SCAP (as it's fondly known) is a prestigious art prize attracting an increasingly strong entrant list from around the country. Among this year's finalists was ART500 artist Robert Fenton, who has been a finalist 5 times in it's 10 year history.
Robert's beautiful painting Item# 1770, Florilegium 2015 oil on linen on board 133 x 92 cm was awarded the 2015 SCAP by judge Amanda Parer whose statement read, in part, "..all of the elements that have been placed by the artist give the piece a strengthand quality that allows the viewers imagination to extend beyond what is there in the four edges of the frame...".
Deb Mostert (another ART500 artist) also attended and together we cheered Robert on when the prize was announced. I am thrilled that such a deserving artist has taken out this prize and especially delighted that Robert is part of ART500 so I couldn't wait to share this exciting news with you all.
Item# 1770, Florilegiumis an exquisitely painted art work by a masterful painter. Here's an image, but if you are able to get to Caloundra to see it 'in the flesh' I'd encourage you to do so.
Robert currently has only six works available on ART500, priced from only $250 to $420. If you'd like to own one of his small works, I'd encourage you to hurry up and visit Robert's Shop Page on ART500.
Later this month, I'll be starting a regular Artist Feature on ART500, Robert will be the first Artist featured, so stay tuned to find out more about his practice, what drives his work, an inside peek into his studio and what's coming up next for him
