Robert Fenton was high on my Artist wish list when I decided to create ART500. Robert's work is visually unique. Technically and conceptually accomplished, there is an intensity to his work that is in stark contrast to his easy-going and friendly nature.
In 2015 Robert's talent and many years of dedication were recognised when he was awarded the 2015 Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) and also first prize in The Linden Postcard Show.
2015 also saw an intensive program of work as he geared up for a major show at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery (the photo above shows him in the studio producing over 120 portraits for the show).
Where the magic happens. Robert's studio in Melbourne's bayside area...
*Because I know everyone will wonder, the plastic tent construction in the studio is where Robert applies a final dust free, resin layer to his paintings.
Robert tells us about himself....
"I like collecting shiny things, such as my porcelain sculpture by Micheal Doolan and also my collection of vintage/kitchporcelain figurines which feature in many of my works. Many a day is spent finding strange things in op shops, garage sales, and markets.
I'm Dad to three young daughters and they keep me busy.
Interests: collecting art, attending art shows, surfing, the Swans (AFL), family, and "Summer" the wonder dog."
Robert currently has a small number of paintings and drawings available on ART500. Click on any of the images to see more detail.
